Bishop James Harrison Lockard was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan.

He graduated from Chadsey High School in 1978.  He attended Henry Ford Community College, majoring in Business, as well as Central Bible College majoring in pastoral studies. Bishop Jim received an honorary Doctorate Degree in Theology from Bethel Christian University in 2012

In 1980, Jim became the purchasing agent for Tastee Baking in Detroit.  After over 11 years, he went to work for Thorn Apple Valley as a purchasing manager for a brief time.  Then in 1993, he moved on to Cadillac Electric and Automation in Ypsilanti, where over the course of 11 years, he moved up the ranks and held the position of Branch Manager.

Pastor Jim gave his life to Christ at 8 years of age.  He has had a love for music from a very early age.  He was in a gospel quartet, the Southfield Gospel Singers, in his late teens and early 20's.  Jim has been gifted to sing, play guitar and piano, and has written several God- inspired songs

In 1985, Jim became the Minister of Music at the Belleville Lighthouse Worship Center, Belleville, Michigan.  By this time he was also preaching and teaching, and in 1995, he was ordained into the ministry.

He held the position of associate minister, working and training under Pastor Charles Warren, and in 1999, he became the assistant pastor.  Jim served in that capacity, as well as continuing to serve as music minister.  As of December 2004, he has been serving as Senior Pastor at the Lighthouse.

Pastor Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors for Metro City Fellowship International and in 2010 was consecrated Bishop by Bishop Milton Woods and this fellowship.  The MCFI serves to expand the vision of relationship, fellow-ship, strength, unity, and net-working among pastors and ministers, leaders and business owners.

Their mission is to work toward bridging racial, economic and denominational barriers.  Pastor Jim has also been involved with Jesus, Race, and you, an organization formed to equip the Church to enfold and embrace racial diversity.

Pastor Jim has a deep passion for people.  God has given him a specific vision for his local assembly and community.  A vision that seeks to reach out to people who are lost and hurting and help them find hope and purpose for their lives.

Pastor Jim and his wife Sherry have been married for over 34 years.  They are both excited about what God is doing in their midst and for what He has planned for the future of their church and community.
